The Building Innovation Fund offers grants to owners of office buildings for initiatives that demonstrate new and leading edge approaches to retrofitting existing buildings and which significantly reduce building energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Building Innovation Fund supports the sector agreement between the South Australian Government and the Property Council of Australia (South Australian Division) made under South Australia’s climate change legislation.
1. Capital Works
The Capital Works Stream provides an incentive to building owners to implement projects that demonstrate leading edge approaches to retrofitting or tuning-up commercial office buildings. Grants of over $100,000 will be provided to approved projects. Building Innovation Fund projects receiving funding from the Commonwealths’ GBF will be “topped-up” providing it doesn’t compromise the GBF requirement for applicants to match the Commonwealth’s contribution dollar-for-dollar. Building Innovation Fund projects not receiving funding through the Green Building Fund will be eligible for up to two-thirds (66.6%) of the eligible project
costs.
2. Feasibility & Case Study
The Feasibility & Case Study Stream provides an incentive to building owners to complete feasibility or case studies for South Australia specific projects and applications, providing the study can directly demonstrate clear methods for implementing leading edge approaches to retrofitting or tuning-up commercial office buildings. Building Innovation Fund grants of over $20,000 will be provided to approved projects. Studies will be eligible for up to 50% of eligible consultancy costs. Total grants from this stream will be capped at 15% of the total fund.
