MBF Foundation Grant

The MBF Foundation is seeking expressions of interest for projects that will be beneficial in the promotion of affordable healthcare, wellness and/or tackling obesity and healthy aging. The foundation is searching for projects that are charitable in nature as per its charter and that foster health research, health education and aid in the development of programs to encourage healthy living.

Who is eligible for the MBF Foundation Grant?

Eligible MBF Foundation grant applicants include universities, research institutes, and other organisations (i.e. charitable, not-for-profit, incorporated associations and/or companies limited by guarantee).

What activities are eligible for funding?

Potential MBF Foundation grant projects applicants should focus on initiatives which promote:

  • Health care research,
  • Health care education, and
  • Health and wellbeing for the overall community.

The MBF foundation is looking to fund ventures ranging from $100,000 to $500,000 for up to three years.

Merit criteria

Each MBF Foundation grant expression of interest will be assessed on the degree to which it promotes health care research, education and programs promoting healthy living. Additionally, the panel will look at whether the foundation has already funded a similar project or whether it is similar to pre-existing research.

The MBF Foundation grant proposal stage of the application process will be assessed as follows:

  • The degree to which it will impact on health outcomes and costs (i.e. projects that provide solutions will score higher than those that only analyse the problems),
  • Timeframe for research outcomes,
  • Reasons for requiring funding,
  • The extent to which it contributes to existing health policy debates,
  • Study and the project design, and
  • Reputation of the organisation.

Expressions of interest for the MBF Foundation grant should be submitted no later than (5pm AEDT) 23rd December 2009.
